The Foilone Pegasus is a single-seat electric hydrofoil craft, hand-built in Finland from carbon fibre, measuring 4.88 metres long and just 0.95 metres wide with an all-up weight of 200 kg. A 14.9 kW motor and 10 kWh battery give a published top speed of 30 knots and a two-hour charge time. It won Production Motor Boat of the Year at the 2025 Foiling Awards.

What a buyer should know

Not a boat in the usual sense

The Pegasus is closer to a personal watercraft than to a day boat, and buyers should read the numbers that way. One seat, 0.95 metres of beam and 200 kg all-up means it is a machine you operate rather than one you entertain on. There is no capacity for guests, no storage and no shelter.

What the figures imply

Thirty knots from 14.9 kW is only possible because foils lift the hull clear of the water, which is the entire point of the design — drag collapses once the craft is flying, so a modest motor delivers speeds a conventional 4.9-metre hull would need several times the power to reach. The trade-off is that 10 kWh is a small pack, so sessions will be measured in tens of minutes rather than hours; Foilone does not publish a range or endurance figure, which is the single most important thing to ask before ordering. The two-hour charge time is short enough for a lunch break between runs.

Who should buy it

Experienced watersports people on sheltered lakes and inshore water who want the foiling experience, and who accept a learning curve. Anyone wanting a family boat, or reliable transport in chop, should look elsewhere. The Foiling Awards recognition is meaningful validation from a jury that specialises in exactly this category.
